​​​​​St Pius X Catholic Primary School opened for the beginning of the 1964 school year largely as a result of efforts by the then Parish Priest Father Frank Costello. The school was administered by the Sisters of St Joseph who continued to work actively in the school until 1981.

St Pius X School is located on 3 hectares of land immediately behind the St. Pius X Church in Golda Avenue in Salisbury. In May 1991 Father Brian Cooper blessed and opened an extension, which included a Preschool (now our Prep) and a Multi-Purpose room to make our complex more complete. During 1999 a refurbishment of the whole school was completed and officially opened on 10th March 2000 by Archbishop Bathersby. The Multi-Purpose room was dedicated to Blessed Mary MacKillop and renamed the MacKillop Room in 1999.  A special Mary MacKillop Memorial Garden was established in 2001 for all who have passed through St Pius X and on to their eternal reward.

The school community marked their 50th anniversary in 2014, when we celebrated 50 years of tradition, pride, success and dedication. In the history of our school, we read of ordinary things done by ordinary people, but with such dedication that the result has been remarkable.  We now look forward to a future bright with hope and promise.

The school is staffed by lay teachers, a lay Acting Principal  - Mr Brendan Gerrard, and our Parish Priest Father John Fitz-Herbert.​
