At St Pius X, Jesus Christ remains at the centre of our community. Through learning, prayer, service and relationships, we seek to nurture young people who are compassionate, hope-filled and ready to make a positive difference in the world.
“Christ in All” is more than our motto. It is the way we seek to learn, live and love together.
Religious Education is an important Key Learning Area at St Pius X. It consists of two distinct but complementary dimensions:
- The Religious Life of the School
- The teaching and learning of Religion Curriculum
Together, these dimensions support the religious literacy and faith formation of our students and help them explore how the Catholic Christian tradition can inform the way they understand themselves, others and the world.
The Religious Life of the School
The Religious Life of St Pius X provides opportunities for students, staff and families to encounter and express faith through the everyday life of our school.
It encompasses four interconnected areas:
- Religious Identity and Culture
- Evangelisation and Faith Formation
- Prayer and Worship
- Social Action and Justice
At St Pius X, these are brought to life through prayer, liturgy, the celebration of significant feast days and seasons of the Church year, opportunities for faith formation, service to others and action for justice.
Our school recognises families as an important place where faith can be nurtured and seeks to work in partnership with parents, caregivers and the parish community.
The Religion Curriculum
Through the Brisbane Catholic Education Religion Curriculum P-12, students engage with four interconnected strands:
- Sacred Texts
- Beliefs
- Church
- Christian Life
The Religion Curriculum is taught with the same academic rigour as other curriculum areas, such as Mathematics and English, and is reported on using a five-point scale.
In contrast, the Religious Life of the School is woven into the everyday life and culture of the school, providing meaningful faith-forming experiences that support students, staff and families to deepen their faith and live out our Catholic identity.
Learning experiences are engaging, purposeful and responsive to our students and our local context. Classroom teachers work collaboratively with the Assistant Principal Religious Education (APRE) to plan high-quality learning and teaching in Religion.
