School History

Our Story

St Pius X Catholic Primary School opened at the beginning of the 1964 school year, largely through the efforts of the then Parish Priest, Father Frank Costello. The school was initially administered by the Sisters of St Joseph, who continued to play an active role in our school community until 1981.

Set on three hectares of land behind St Pius X Church in Golda Avenue, Salisbury, our school has continued to grow and develop alongside the community it serves.

In May 1991, Father Brian Cooper blessed and opened a new extension that included a Preschool, now our Prep, and a Multi-Purpose Room. In 1999, the Multi-Purpose Room was dedicated to Blessed Mary MacKillop and renamed the MacKillop Room.

A major refurbishment of the school was completed in 1999 and officially opened by Archbishop Bathersby on 10 March 2000. In 2001, the Mary MacKillop Memorial Garden was established as a special place of remembrance for those who have been part of the St Pius X community and have since passed away.

Celebrating Our Journey

As we look towards 2027, we celebrate 63 years of tradition, pride, achievement and dedication at St Pius X.

Our story is one of ordinary people doing ordinary things with extraordinary commitment. Generations of students, families, staff, parishioners and community members have helped shape the school we know and love today.

We honour our past with gratitude while looking forward to a future filled with hope, opportunity and promise, continuing to live our values of Dignity, Faith, Community and Service and our motto, Christ in All.

Today, St Pius X is led by our Principal, Mrs Felicity Pryer, together with our dedicated staff and Parish Priest, Father John Fitz-Herbert.
